Hello

Hi, I’m Rachel, a certified paediatric sleep consultant based on Sydney’s North Shore and a mum of two.

Sleep training started with Eloise, my first born, at 5 months old, and was the best decision I made for our family. She was ready to sleep, and wanted to, but our bad habits prevented her. After 2 months of over 5 wake ups a night and cat naps all day, we knew there must be a missing piece to our puzzle. Saying we were exhausted, frustrated and at our wits end was an understatement and I don’t know how we got through every day running on an empty tank. When you throw post-partum recovery, navigating life as new parents, medical appointments, feeding schedules, naps and awake windows into the mix as well, it all quickly becomes very overwhelming. To this day Eloise now sleeps incredibly well, no matter where we are or whose around and even when she’s teething or sick. After overcoming the bad sleep, stress and anxiety surrounding Eloise’s sleep, I formed a passion for anything sleep related and I knew I had to help as many other sleep deprived families as I could. I also knew I needed to educate parents that teaching our children new independent ways to fall asleep can be a very responsive approach where no child is left to cry by themselves! What parents are often not told is that our children need to learn to sleep. Once this is achieved, it is a skill they have for life.

When I’m not helping families get the well-deserved sleep they need, you’ll find me heading out on adventures with my husband and our little toddler, in a coffee shop, out for dinner with the girls or procrastinating and never sitting still! Our family enjoys the great outdoors, going on spontaneous trips away and socialising; our Covid baby didn’t stand a chance of being unsociable!

5 fun facts about me:

  1. I grew up in the UK but have lived in Australia for the past 8 years, wow that’s flown!

  2. I am a wife and a very proud mother to my little red headed best friend who I am lucky to spend every day with.

  3. I have a 10+ year career that has solely focused on babies and children from working on labour wards, nannying for numerous amazing families, being a birth doula, a mother to my little girl and a certified Sleep Sense™ Consultant.

  4. I love cooking, socialising, talking- sometimes a little too much

  5. I am petrified of coming face to face with a snake.

How can I help?

I want parents to enjoy the precious moments with their babies as this time goes by much too fast. Having these moments stolen due to lack of sleep is completely unnecessary and can cause anxious parents.

There are hundreds of methods that promise to improve your child’s sleep, but the reality is, each baby is individual and a one size fits all approach to sleep doesn’t work. What works for one child won’t work for another. That’s why I personalise a plan to suit your child and your individual sleep goals. I advocate a simple, non-judgemental, gentle, hands on and responsive approach to helping you and your family to overcome these sleep hurdles. I promise to always listen to your concerns and adapt a 1:1 plan to suit your needs reviewing every sleep as we go.

You know your baby better than anyone else, so I really encourage you to combine your natural instincts with my knowledge to create the best plan for your child. Together we can discuss and strategize the challenges you’re currently facing and I can put a personalised plan together for your child that is suited to you and your family. A well-rested family is a happy family who can enjoy life.

Sleep deprivation not only harms your mental health but your physical health as well. Sleep is a biological need, not just for developing babies but for you too.
